"Some
Commonly Asked Questions about the Pixie-Bob Breed"
 |
|
DO THEY REALLY LOOK
LIKE A BOBCAT? |
The
standard calls for the Pixie Bob to MIMIC the look of
the bobcat. At this point in our program we feel we
have many similarities such as a coarse thick coat with
nice spots, tips on the ears and tufts along the jaw
line. Our Pixie Bobs are large in size with some males
having reached 20 lbs. However, we continue to breed
towards the look of the Pixie Bob's ancestry.

ARE THEY WILD IN
PERSONALITY? |
Even though our
cats contains bobcat heritage, we only sell multiple
generations from the foundation blood. This means our
cats include the intelligence and physical power of
their feral ancestors but also the loving gentle nature
of the Pixie Bobs chosen to be used in the breeding
program. The result is a highly intelligent cat that is
trained, loyal with a wide range of skills and talents.

HOW WELL WILL THESE
CATS GET ALONG WITH OTHER PETS AND CHILDREN? |
Our cats are raised
in our homes with our families. They bond quickly. It is
not unusual when you first get your kitten for it to
bound from the kennel and its first question be,
"Where's the food?" It will lovingly approach each
member of the family and steal your hearts. They also
get along with other family pets and children.

WILL MY KITTEN NEED
A SPECIAL DIET OR A PLACE TO KEEP IT? |
We feed our kittens
a high protein diet such as Science Diet or Iams. To
supplement a dry diet we supply them with a daily meat
diet. This can be prepared canned food containing
chicken or turkey of your choice. If you choose to feed
real meat, please cook it so it will be safe. When you
get your new kitten it is good to keep it in a quiet
place until it has adjusted to the family. The kennel
that comes with the kitten can be used when set in the
middle of a bedroom and left open to give the kitten a
place that is familiar.

WHAT IS THE
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PIXIE BOB AND THE AMERICAN
BOBTAIL? |
The Pixie Bob
should be variations of brown, rufus, and gray or black.
The polydactal toe gene can be used in the breed but is
not allowed in the American Bobtail.
The
American Bobtail covers many other colors such as
the lynx point, blue, gray silver etc.

CAN I AFFORD A
PIXIE BOB? |
Our kittens are
priced affordably. We work with each customer
personally regarding what they want to pay for a kitten,
convenient ways of payment, and will accept payments in
order for customers to afford one of these unique
kittens and be able to enjoy it as a pet. Raising these
wonderful cats are a hobby for us and any money gained
goes back into the feed and care of our cats.
Therefore, we are not interested in making large profits
but more interested in our kittens having good homes
where people can afford to care for them but also feel
comfortable with what they pay for their pet. For more
information on our payment plans, go to
Contact Me page.
